Here’s how it all began with this HCG diet…
Hcg diet author, a British doctor, Dr Simeons, discovered the HCG diet in 1954. Prior to this he had spent years trying to understand what caused obesity. He viewed obesity as a disorder and rather than looking at overeating as a cause, he considered it the result.
In reality this means:
- If you are obese you will quickly accumulate fat whether you eat normally or excessively.
- If you are not obese, you will never become overweight even if you eat excessively.
His research conclude that there were 3 different types of fat stored within the body:
- Structural fat, which is stored between the organs
- Normal fat, which is available freely as fuel when needed
- Abnormal fat, which is locked away and cannot be used by the metabolism until all other fat has been burnt
Human chorionic gonadotropin
Diet trends, weight loss diets, low carb diets and fads come and go, as we seek a diet plan, the diet, a way to help us shed unwanted pounds and inches, but a fat loss diet like HCG diet has no equal.
Diets don’t usually work for people with abnormal fat stores because they don’t lose the right kind of fat while dieting.
This diet works at the metabolic level to discharge these stores into the bloodstream so that they can be used as fuel, and this is why a low calorie diet MUST accompany the HCG diet plan.

The original HCG diet reviews
The original HCG diet protocol involved a low calorie diet and a series of HCG diet injections. There has been a great deal of controversy as to whether it is best administered by injection or by mouth. However, oral HCG (under the tongue) mimics the injection and either way you are ingesting the same hormone.
A word of warning:
Dr. Simeons said there were no known HCG diet dangers or HCG side effects, but there are different types of HCG hormone and you should be aware that some of those HCG hormones are not the best choice to make!
Either with Hcg injections or with the HCG drops (sublingual – drops under the tongue) losing weight, as far as I know, has never before been this easy and this fat loss diet has no equal. So far, no one could show me any diet that comes even close to this diet. So, if you know any other diet out there that works better and faster than this diet, please let me know in the comments below, I’d really like to hear about it, seriously!
Are there any HCG diet dangers?
Of course there will be skeptics who will tell you that this diet is dangerous or doesn’t work, however this method has more than fifty years of research behind it.

HCG Diet Plan
If you are interested in trying the hcg diet plan, then you have probably heard people talk about hcg diet dangers. These dangers are mostly myths. The hcg diet injections work safely, but need to be done by a qualified medical professional who follows the instructions laid down by Dr. Simeons, so yes, the hcg diet works. However, I personally recommend the sublingual HCG diet (HCG drops under the tongue), as for me, sublingual HCG diet is much safer, and to be honest, I don’t like needles.
And for the diet… be very careful about even basic condiments like sugar (NO sugar allowed) and milk (ONLY 1 spoon a day allowed) in this lose weight diet, as you need to eat the foods on the list and avoid ones off of the list. HCG diet for weight loss questions may revolve around substitutions in this plan, but there is plenty of room for variety in your protein and your produce.
There is a strict limit on carbohydrates, but that need not keep you from enjoying normal favorites. Create light recipes and substitute lettuce for bread in wraps or meat for potatoes in shish kebabs. Lean chicken is an excellent source of low fat protein and can be broiled, baked or roasted without adding calories.
HCG diet side effects
While the Atkins and South Beach diets tend to leave you tired and sluggish throughout the day, and the Jenny Craig diet requires customers to consume large quantities of water, there are few if any at all HCG diet side effects to speak of, and most of which have been very customer specific.
Other diets due to the low calorie intake can cause you to lose valuable nutrients and vitamins from your body as you lose weight and this will often times bring on cravings for certain foods that can cause you to over eat and regain the weight you have lost.
However, according to Dr. Simeons, with hcg diet injections or hcg drops, anecdotal evidence suggests your body uses your stored fat and does not rob the body of these vitamins and nutrients even with consuming the low calorie diet.

I have just read through your website and definitely like what I see and am very interested. My main concern is the 500 calorie diet. I think I could gain the self-discipline to only eat that much, however I’m not sure what would be best to eat with such a limitation in calories. If I purchase this product, will some kind of guide as far as what I’m supposed to eat come along with it? I would definitely need some direction as far as that is concerned. Hey Brian, thanks for your interest. You say, your main concern is 500 calorie diet? Well, according to Dr ATW Simeons, that’s exactly where HCG does the job for you. He explained this in his book.. if you eat 500 calories a day WITHOUT taking HCG, then you can call that starving and that can be highly dangerous for your health and life actually. However, by taking HCG, your body starts to burn the “abnormal” fat, which is locked away and cannot be used by the metabolism until all other fat has been burnt.
I can talk about my own experience though.. when I was on the HCG diet almost 2 years ago, I sometimes had to force myself to eat dinner, because I simply wasn’t hungry at all. Will I look guant if I loose 25 lbs in 6 weeks
No, you will not look gaunt. The people who try to starve themselves without the drops are losing structural and normal fat stores. The hcg tells your brain to only target the abnormal stores. I have been on it for one week and have lost 11.5 pounds. Everyone is telling me how much healthier I look, especially in the face!

How long are you supose to stay on this diet? Can this diet make you anorexic? I need to lose 2-3 dress size is this a good diet for me?
@E Depends on how much you need to lose. Minimum is 23 days (2 days loading phase + 21 days of the actual HCG diet.
If you want to lose more, you can go for a longer period, which is up to 43 days. Then, after a few months you can do another round of the HCG diet again (if you still want to lose more).

Hello! First off thank you for creating a page that gets to the ‘jist’ of things. Its just the info I was looking for.I just bought HCG liquid today and was wondering about the strict diet plan. You said no sugar right?? What would be an example of what I should be eating, and how much weight can I expect to lose. I currently weigh 170 and want to get to 140-150. Is that unrealistic? No sugar, that’s correct. You can and will get some sugar, when eating an apple, but that’s mostly raw, natural fructose and glucose and that’s fine, it will only do good things for your body. Regarding the eating plans, you should be receiving plenty of Hcg diet recipes along with the package you’ve ordered, so everything will be taken care of. You’re asking how much wait can you expect to lose… well, depends on so many factors it’s really hard to say, since everyone is different.
You could lose up to 1-2 pounds a day and according to the original Hcg diet plan by Dr. Simeons, you should never go less than 23 days (including first 2 days as loading days). If you want to lose more, you can go for 43 days according to Dr Simeons. So decide what you want to do and then be bold and just do it, it’s so easy when you stick to the plan and do NOT deviate.
Regarding your current weight and your target weight, I can’t answer that really, and the reason is, I can’t really give any medical advice and I don’t know anything about you or your health condition, life style etc… I recommend you consult your doctor about that, I think that would be the best way for you. I tried the hcg diet and it worked for me. Now with that being said the first week is really hard. I felt like my stomach was trying to eat my back. But once you get past the first week its pretty easy. I found the pounds and inches book is kind of hard to follow so what I did was very simple. Fruit for breakfast(nothing bigger than my hand.) Lunch usually 1 chicken breast off the ole george forman .(hamburger meat cooked down to hardly nothing) then fruit in between if I got hungry. Supper was chicken again. But if I knew that I was not going to eat at a designated time I would eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast and bring apples with me to snack on until I could eat. Sometimes I would feel a little bad but it was never nothing I could not press through. I am a professional firefighter and emt so with field work eating at a specific time is iffy. The night before I would cook everything I needed for the next day and put it in zip locks and eat when I had time and that worked out pretty good. I did mild workouts while on the diet and it didn’t effect how I felt but I don’t advise hardcore workouts. But all in all I was happy with the results. I lost 25 pounds in one month went from 240 to around 216. 2.5 inches off my waist. 1.5 inches off my arms and an inch off my legs. and 2 inches off my chest.
Hey Brandon, thanks for sharing your experience with us. Yeah, first few days can be somewhat hard to some individuals, since they are not used to low caloric intake and some can even get a bit lightheaded, but that should go away quickly as body learns what’s going on and starts burning body fat. Regarding the Pounds & Inches book, I have found exactly the opposite, it is very straight to the point and you know exactly what to do and how to do it, no need to do anything else, and I always say that to people – just stick to the original plan and you should be fine. I am finishing my third week of the HCG diet and am very frustrated. I have GAINED two pounds in the last week and cannot figure out why. I have not deviated from the recommended foods. I even take carnitine to increase my metabolism to no avail. Any suggestions? I’m ready too give up.
Dear Audrey, have you read the Pounds & Inches eBook, by Dr. Simeons? He’s the original author of this diet and he’s the one who knows best I think, so make sure to read the eBook and follow the plan he teaches.
I don’t know which HCG you’re taking, what you’re doing right or wrong, so can’t really comment on that, not enough information and I’m not a doctor either.
I read that you should not use anything on your body that contains fat it can interfer with your weight lose. Is this true and how do you know if what lotions have fat in them?
You’re right, you should not use anything on your body that contains fat, as it may interfer with your HCG diet progress. I recommend you read the labels and/or ask the store owner, there’s plenty to choose from, you just need to spend some time – but it’s well worth it.
Can you use these drops if your on cholesterol medication (creator) ? Any side effects?

Will this harm the kidneys or any side effects from the injections?
There is no injections with the PureHcgDiet Shirley, these are HCG drops, much easier to use in my opinion.
I purchased this product not only did it not make any changes with my diet. The company charged me an additional 89.99 of which I had canceled the prior to the 14 day expiration. Was not impressed.
Angela, I’m sorry to hear that. There are numerous websites out there selling fake HCG diet products and they’re only after your money, so you really need to be careful. Looks like you were tricked by one of those “free trial” companies.
Great page Liz! I was skeptical about HCG and decided to try it, sort of do my own “study.” After 2 load / 10 VLCD days, I’ve lost almost 16lbs (2.5lbs in the last two days alone; 12lbs when you exclude the load “gain”). The typical BMR formula says I should have only lost 4.5 lbs. I keep a running calculation of projected loss given my caloric intake, age, weight, and activities, versus actual scale loss. I logged all of my daily data, food journals, charts, photos, and so on here: [URL edited out]. I keep thinking it has to be a fluke – maybe it’s the HCG, maybe it’s not. But if it’s not, do me a favor and look at my data. Then, you tell me what it is.

When I was pregnant, obviously I had hcg (the pregnancy hormone) in my body. It made me super sick, worse with my daughter and I threw up day in and day out. How come I didn’t lose weight then? Any of the times I was pregnant? I hardly ate and if I did, I threw it up many times. Also, for women who get “morning sickness” like I did every time, will this diet make me feel sick as well?

Long story short… If you eat 500 calories a day WITHOUT taking HCG, you STARVE and that is dangerous, so don’t do it.
When you DO take HCG and eat 500 calories a day, that is NOT starving. The HCG burns the abnormal fat from your body, so your body gets additional, much needed calories to function properly, from your own abnormal body fat – that’s why you lose body fat with the HCG diet.. hope that helps you understand how HCG diet works?
Hey there!! I purchased my 40 day kit from xxxxxxx.com the other week. Today (sunday) ends my 2 day loading+ drops and tomorrow I start the 500cal. diet for 37 days. I am a little nervous but after reading your website I’m hoping I have as much success as you have! The kit I ordered came with a shopping list and reciepes so i’m really excited to try some new things. My boss at work is doing her 2nd round with me. Her first time she lost over 30lbs. in one month! I figured if she can do it…so can I. I’ve got nothing to lose but pounds!!

hello, i was wondering if the drops taste bad first of all? lol. and its hard for me to have self discipline when it comes to eating right and if i had it then i probably wouldnt need this stuff in the first place. lol. what will happen if you do not follow the “diet plan” they recommend to you and if you do eat the sugars, sweets and milk? will you just not lose the weight or have some deathly stomach cramps or diarrhea? i think if anyone can stick to a diet of only 500 calories or even stick to eating right what your suppose to then they’ll lose weight anyways? but im not sure about everyone i guess. i did the nurti system program and that was easy for me since i hate to cook and follow a “diet plan”. i just had to warm up the pre made food and eat it. so that being so easy i lost 30lbs but am so over the taste of that food and can no longer bare to even put it in my mouth another month. lol. i would really appreciate any answer that you may have or opinions. thanks. brooke

This all sounds great but what happens AFTER the diet? I’ve done diets like this before and lost tons of weight, but gained it all back AND more after I finished it. Won’t the same thing happen with this? I’m a vegetarian too, how will that effect the process?

Mandy, please download the original book by Dr. Simeons here (right click and choose “Save As”) and read it. Although the book talks about the injections, and not sub-lingual drops, all the rules still apply. Please read it and you will understand what HCG diet is and how it works.
Hi there. From everything I’ve seen and read in regards to the hcg diet is that it is more geared towards those who need to lose a good amount of weight. What happens if you only want to lose 15 lbs, 20 lbs tops? Is this a good plan? I understand the concept that the body will start to eat the stored fat and obviously once that is gone, there will be no more weight to lose. But if one is losing 1-3 lbs a day, then 15-20 lbs will be off within two weeks. That’s only 14 days as opposed to teh 24-26 day program that is offered. Could you please shed some light on this? Hi Kelly. It’s perfectly ok even if you want to lose only 15-20 lbs, the 23 day HCG diet should suffice for that. Those numbers are not like exact numbers you’d be losing per day, those are just an estimate, and you body has it’s own “intelligence” so to speak, so one day you actually could lose 1 lbs or even more, and the next day you’d lose only 0.3 lbs or 0.2 lbs or whatever, you get the point. And your understanding is correct Kelly, your body burns it’s own, stored fat. Have you read the “Pounds & Inches” book yet, it’s free and you can find the download links in the comments above – I’ve posted a download link a few times already, I guess I should post a link in the sidebar as well, so everyone can see it and download it, it’s a good read, highly recommend it.
Hey, I’m on my third week of the HCG diet. And this week I’m only down one pound. Can I be doing something wrong. I’m drinking a protein shake, and my fruit for my two meals.

Tabatha, good to hear you’re taking action, congratulations. Regarding your question… I suggest you do it exactly as it is suggested by the author of the HCG diet himself, Dr. Simeons. Are you deviating from that plan?What’s in that protein shake, calories etc…? Fruit is not allowed in the original hcg diet protocol, except an apple or maybe 2 apples per day, depends if you’re losing or not. Have you read the book yet? It’s free.

Hey Wiqar, good question. As long as there’s HCG present in your body and you eat more than 500 calories, you will gain weight, so cheating is not recommended while on the HCG diet. But if you do cheat, no big deal I think, as long as you get back on track as soon as possible and then stick to the HCG diet protocol – if you do it right, you will have no desire to cheat at all. So, be careful with those cheat days Wiqar.
